Shana Brooks, FNP
Family nurse practitioner Shana Brooks is not one to shy away from a challenge. "As a child, I watched my mother work as a nurse, and I worked hard to become one myself," Shana shared. "After working as a nurse for six years, I knew I wanted to understand more about disease processes and treatments, so I became a family nurse practitioner. Now, I can use my knowledge and nurse practitioner training to teach my patients about health and wellness."
Shana particularly enjoys helping patients and their parents through some of childhood's most challenging times. "I enjoy working with newborn babies through age one," Shana said. "This period is full of growth and development. I like teaching families about newborn care and growth. And, I also have a special interest in adolescent care, which is another challenging time of development in our pediatric population.
"Ultimately, whether I am seeing a patient when they are sick or when they are well, I want to do whatever I can to help that child be happy, healthy and live life to the fullest," she continued. "Everyone here at Novant Health Arbor Pediatrics works together for health and well-being of our patients, and our patients and their families benefit from that teamwork."
Shana's own family is growing! "I married my high school sweetheart, Shawn," she said. "We have one young son and another son on the way. We enjoy traveling, reading books and playing board games. And we spend plenty of time snuggling our little boy!"
